Now I despise all pharmacies
Justin has not yet started on Prevacid because we keep getting the run around from several pharmacies. The doctor called the prescription in to Rite Aid last Tuesday but they stated that the only pharmacy able to provide the liquid Prevacid is Children's Hospital. So the rx was called into them and we were told it would be ready for pick up on Thursday. Carl went to pick it up on Friday and they told us that they were not a provider under our insurance and that any pharmacy could fill this rx. First problem, why didn't they call and inform us of this fact. It's called customer service people. So I call Rite Aid to have the rx transferred from Children's and they say they can't fill it. I ask how I'm supposed to get this filled if Children's can't do it. Long story short, I'm told that Children's does accept my insurance, everyone does. So now I call Children's. Turns out Medicaid is denying us because they say we have additional coverage which needs to be billed. Side note, Justin automatically qualified for Medicaid because of his prematurity, but we've been using our insurance through work. This leads me to my second problem, why in the world didn't they explain that to Carl when he tried to pick up the prescription. I think, HOPE, I finally have this all figured out as the pharmacy tech took my current prescription information and said the rx should be ready in an hour. Let's all hope I'm able to pick it up tonight without any problems.

dang.. that's a mess.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know preemies qualified for medicaid. So he's on three different insurances? They are all probably necessary though - cause I know his bills are ridiculous.
Ambyr- only the tiniest preemies do..
ReplyDeleteAs for the prevacid.. be aware it tastes like crap. It's mixed w/salt water. He might object to it.
Also be aware it breaks down quickly, so if he seems better, then worse again, ask for the solutabs instead of the liquid. It's a little more annoying to prepare, but Robbie thinks it's candy, and it has been our miracle drug.
Customer service is something that is lacking in all areas and has been for years. People tend to only do the bare minimum to get buy. I've got 150 students to prove that point (okay not all of them.) But imagine what will happen when they join the workforce. I'm very afraid.
