Elf on the Shelf

The boys, especially Nate, were really into the Elf on the Shelf this year.  Actually I can't lie, Carl and I were really into it this year as well and tried to come up with some creative ideas for our visiting elf.  So without further ado, meet our elf Cliff who was named by Nate.  The boys were sad to see him go.

Now that our elf has a name I registered him at the North Pole and we got a letter from Santa

Elf on the Shelf

This year we started a new tradition with the boys by introducing Elf on the Shelf.  I actually bought it last year, read the story to the boys and we put the Elf out a few days to see if they'd notice.  But they didn't really understand so I was hopeful they'd be ready this year since they're so excited about X-Mas.  So after we came home from Santa Barn we read the story.  Sunday morning Justin was less than excited about looking for the Elf which I named TBD because the boys would not give him a name.  I tried to make a game out of it and asked J if he wanted to play and he said "no mommy, I don't want to play your game".  Then I reminded him of the story and how the Elf couldn't report back to Santa and asked if he remembered the Elf and he said no.  Nate showed a little more enthusiasm when he saw the Elf that morning but didn't get the idea of searching for him.  Well our new tradition only lasted a day and a half because the Elf lost his power when J picked him up out of the stocking and my mother in law moved him to the tree during the day.  Guess we'll try again next year.
