Fun in the Snow

The hill in our backyard is perfect for sledding at this age.  So when we got our first big snowfall of the year earlier in the month I invited the Brouzins over for a sledding play date.

First Snow

The boys loved playing outside yesterday during the first snowfall of the season.  I even got in on the fun.  We were only supposed to get a few inches that weren't expected to stick but ended up getting a little over double that.  So of course the boys wanted to go outside today as well and play again.

More Fun in the Snow

I'm sure the boys will disagree but I'm really hoping this is the last time they play in the snow this season. Even though the snow started melting last week we got flurries today; umm it's spring now, come on Michigan get it together already.   But I should know better; I was born in April and there was a blizzard the day I was born so you never know.

Fun in the Snow

The boys love playing in the snow; so much so that Nate didn't even mind notice when his boot came off and kept right on playing.  And of course he got upset when I said it was time to go inside.  Oh the joys of being a kid!!!

Painting With Snow

Last weekend Aiden came over and the boys painted snow.  They had a ball and depleted ALL of the paint in the house.  We'll definitely have to do it again soon; hopefully Ari can join us next time.

Ice Skating

Aiden begged his mom to take him ice skating so Carlene invited us to join them.  Since Lalla is pregnant Carl, Carlene and I took turns taking Ariana around the rink.  She was much for graceful than the boys; Nate was limp and just let me push him around the rink.  J was silly and kept going in circles and backwards.  AJ wasn't too bad but I still got a good workout in from taking each of the kids around.  But after about 5 laps I was done; the supportive style skates became uncomfortable so we all decided to call it quits.  And even though Carl struggled a bit on the skates he wants to take the boys skating again.

Santa Barn

Saturday we took the boys to Santa Barn for train rides, real reindeer, Santa, food, arts & crafts and other winter activities. This year's charity was Angels of Hope Family Cancer Foundation.   Donne and Jayla rode with us this year and on the way home I asked "did you guys have fun today?" and they replied "we always have fun at Santa Barn" which brought a big smile to my face.  This was also the first year that my boys actively participated in making cookies & ornaments.  It was a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Winter Fun

We had our first big snow fall while we were off a few weeks ago.  The boys LOVED sledding and didn't want to go inside, even after their gloves were completely soaked and wet from playing in the snow.

Santa Barn & Noel Night

Saturday we took the boys to Santa Barn for train rides, real reindeer, Santa, food, arts & crafts and other winter activities. This year's charity was Help For Our Disabled Troops; given Carl's military service this charity was definitely near and dear to our hearts.

After we left Santa Barn we headed downtown for our first Noel Night.  We were hoping to see the exhibits at the Detroit Institute of Arts and Michigan Science Center but the lines were way too long.  So instead we hung out with friends outside of the DIA and visited the Museum of African American History.  We also enjoyed some street performances; Justin particularly liked the fire eaters.

Santa Barn

Carl and I took the boys to Santa Barn earlier this month, along with some of our friends and their kids.  Santa Barn is sponsored by one of my co-worker's parents; train rides, real reindeer, Santa, food, arts & crafts and other winter activities for all ages.  Each year they choose a different charity and any money received is donated to the selected charity.
