Santa Barn

We took the kids to Santa Barn the first Saturday in December.  This year the proceeds went to a family that has been impacted by ALS.  My co-worker's parents say this is the last year they're putting Santa Barn on, but everyone is encouraging them to continue.  It's always a great way to kick off the holiday season so I hope they at least do one more year.

Santa Barn

Saturday we took the boys to Santa Barn for train rides, real reindeer, Santa, food, arts & crafts and other winter activities. This year's charity was Angels of Hope Family Cancer Foundation.   Donne and Jayla rode with us this year and on the way home I asked "did you guys have fun today?" and they replied "we always have fun at Santa Barn" which brought a big smile to my face.  This was also the first year that my boys actively participated in making cookies & ornaments.  It was a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Santa Barn & Noel Night

Saturday we took the boys to Santa Barn for train rides, real reindeer, Santa, food, arts & crafts and other winter activities. This year's charity was Help For Our Disabled Troops; given Carl's military service this charity was definitely near and dear to our hearts.

After we left Santa Barn we headed downtown for our first Noel Night.  We were hoping to see the exhibits at the Detroit Institute of Arts and Michigan Science Center but the lines were way too long.  So instead we hung out with friends outside of the DIA and visited the Museum of African American History.  We also enjoyed some street performances; Justin particularly liked the fire eaters.

Santa Barn

Carl and I took the boys to Santa Barn earlier this month, along with some of our friends and their kids.  Santa Barn is sponsored by one of my co-worker's parents; train rides, real reindeer, Santa, food, arts & crafts and other winter activities for all ages.  Each year they choose a different charity and any money received is donated to the selected charity.

Santa Barn 2010

Every year one of my co-worker's parents hosts a Santa Barn with real reindeer, Santa, train ride, x-mas tree lot, food & hot chocolate and other holiday activities.  The event is free to the public; they select a different charity each year and 100%  of all donations are given to that charity.   This was my first time going and I'm looking forward to attending next year, with Carl; it was a handful with 2 very active boys.  As always, my friends were great helping out, but I felt bad that I took them away from enjoying it with their own kids.  At one point one woman referred to Donald as my husband, lol.
